The Trip to Halawa Valley "The Trip to Halawa Valley," is a short story composed by Lynne Sharon Schwartz. The story is about a child succeeding and getting hitched in Hawaii, also, the reunification of his separated from guardians. The guardians become the primary focal point of the story when the child recommends that they go out traveling to Halawa Valley. In this story Schwartz is attempting to show individuals that once you make a choice it is exceptionally difficult to walk out on that choice. With all the characters, aside from the quickly referenced love birds, Schwartz shows how choices made by an individual or a couple are difficult to betray. A case of this is Paul's guardians. Lois and Jim are united back in Hawaii, and attempt to revive their affection for one another. After their outing however, they understand it can not be done, and part in their own different ways. Schwartz does a generally excellent activity of indicating the peruser the experience she is attempting to pass on. She does this by utilizing a couple various characters all through the story. The principle ones she utilizes are the guardians, and that is the exceptionally clear model. A couple of different models are not as clear, however they do appear how choices are a significant factor throughout everyday life and once made are exceptionally difficult to pivot. Utilizing Paul's sibling Anthony, Schwartz shows that once he made the choice to join the Hare Krishnas there was no turning around, regardless of whether that implied not speaking with his folks any longer. Schwartz additionally utilizes Paul's other sibling Eric. When Eric declared that he was gay, his folks needed to make the intense choice to either bolster or not bolster his decision in sexuality.         Schwartz builds up the characters quick, yet in doing so makes the story move quicker. All through the story the characters are being created through the considerations of both Lois and Jim. They talk about their children and how one of them passed on at age 11 because of a cerebrum tumor. Schwartz additionally makes Lois create Jim, and Jim create Lois. She does this by causing them to think back about their past together.         The struggle in this short story is between the guardians of Paul.
